AZZ Galvanizing Services is a national hot-dipped galvanizing company. Over the last several years, I&S has provided professional design services for the expansion of the facility.
I&S Group provided land surveying, environmental services, civil engineering, architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design services for the 82,000 square foot precast concrete facility. The selection of precast concrete construction was a direct result of the need for a durable and cost effective material for the heavy industry associated with the facility. Due to the nature of the galvanizing process, chemical containment, additional ventilation, and specific electrical requirements had to be designed to meet code requirements. Overhead cranes and equipment pits were also designed for the facility.
The expansion required the mitigation of a wetland area on site. The I&S Environmental Services group provided delineation and mitigation design services for the relocation of the wetland, working closely with local jurisdictions to ensure full compliance. I&S is also providing the requisite monitoring of the wetland, including the placement of remote water level sensing equipment to minimize site visits and reduce monitoring costs.
