Nine of our in-house disciplines worked closely with the owner, Intercontinental Hotels Group, and the City of Mankato to provide a coordinated, comprehensive team approach to the project from boundary survey and tree management plan through and including bidding and construction administration.

Due to the five story design of the hotel, the structural design of the facility was of critical importance. Several structural systems were investigated for constructability, durability, sound transmission, and overall cost. Based on these factors, a concrete block structure was ultimately selected.

On this projects site, it was crucial that the structural, architectural, and civil design proceeded in a parallel fashion. The soil conditions of the site were such that it was more cost effective to construct vertically, thus saving costs in soil correction.
