Lake Washington County Park

Lake Washington County Park is a 166 acre refuge on the northwest shore of Lake Washington in LeSueur County, Minnesota. I&S Group prepared the park master plan for the County to provide a long term vision for the development of the area as well as to provide a framework for grant applications.

The park has about 5/8 of a mile of undeveloped shoreline and is the only park located on Lake Washington, the most heavily developed and used lake in Le Sueur County. The County’s main purpose in purchasing land for this park during the 1970s was to protect the land’s natural beauty and resources for others to enjoy in the future. The park is one of the few places left to go that is on the lake, open to the public, and still remains quiet and uncompromised by development. The master plan was intended to reflect this initial vision while making the park more accessible for visitors.

The master plan included a campground with restrooms and showers, playground equipment, a picnic shelter, horseshoe pit, volleyball court, and additional trails throughout the park. The plan provides a local park with desirable amenities, while at the same time protecting one of the last pristine areas along Lake Washington.

I&S Group provided full design services for the design, including preliminary civil design for the site and architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design for the campground.
