In 2006, the City of Mankato contracted with I&S Group to reinvent the zoo at Sibley Park. The once grand attraction had fallen into disrepair through periodic flooding and lack of maintenance. The vision for the new zoo was a “Storybook Farm” concept, intended to educate and entertain Mankato’s younger residents.
I&S developed these site layouts that featured a horse corral, a dairy barn, a visitors center, as well as new playground equipment and a pond and waterfall feature. The first phases of the new Sibley Park Zoo have been completed, and the zoo is now teeming with ponies, cows, and plenty of new visitors.
