Faribault High School Fielitz Fitness Center

Faribault High School Fielitz Fitness Center

Faribault, MN

In less than two years, the Faribault Booster Club went from accepting its first donation toward the lofty project of constructing a brand new fitness and athletic training center at Faribault High School to completing the project within a fully funded budget of $750,000. This 4,700-square foot fitness center is a premier high school fitness training facility and serves as a national model with a partnership with Cybex International-a premium fitness equipment provider. The Faribault facility is filled with state-of-the-art Cybex equipment.

The interior reflects the school spirit with bold use of the school colors, Falcon green and black. The ¾ inch think rubber flooring tiles help improve the room’s acoustics and also reduce the impact of weights being dropped. Multiple windows line one wall and allow natural daylight to permeate the space. Due to limited ceiling height, the duct work was left exposed for a more open and industrial look, adding to the tough-factor of the facility. The exterior was designed to blend with the existing high school brick facade and mechanical systems were incorporated with existing systems.

This ambitious project was completed with dedicated volunteers and donors. The facility was named in honor of longtime FHS Coach Bob Fielitz. The ribbon-cutting event was highlighted by the donation of an American flag by FHS alum and active military member, John McDonough.
