Goodhue Water Tower

Goodhue Water Tower

Goodhue, MN

In April 2010, a Feasibility Study was conducted for a new elevated storage tank to serve the City of Goodhue’s municipal water distribution system. This report included evaluation of the City’s current water distribution system, tower sizing, tower construction, existing tower demolition, subsurface soil conditions, permitting requirements, funding options, tower lease options, project schedule, and cost estimates. This study also included creating and calibrating a model of the entire city’s existing water distribution system. This model was then used to determine the effects of the new water tower and additional watermain improvements on the existing system. The model was generated in WaterCAD V8i.

The final construction plans and specifications for a 250,000 gallon water tower were completed. The project includes water tower construction along with watermain extension to existing infrastructure, site plans, and demolition of the existing tower. The planning was done so that the old tower could remain in place until the new one was complete. Scope of work for this project included all necessary construction plans, specifications, bidding and contract documents, bid solicitation and construction administration, as well as responsibility for permitting, coordination of geotechnical engineering, and coordination with utility companies and inspection services.
