Judicial Ditch No. 38 Improvement

Judicial Ditch No. 38 Improvement

Blue Earth County, MN

In 2002, landowners requested a repair of 26-inch tile outlet of County Ditch No. 38. ISG performed a preliminary engineering study and determined that it would be less expensive to construct an improvement to the end of the tile system with an open ditch instead of new tile. This increased capacity of the outlet and saved $45,000 for landowners in the system. Additionally, a lowered basin bottom provided sediment storage, which in turn improved the discharge water quality and reduced downstream maintenance.
