The principles of sustainable design are vested in the desire to meet the needs of today's ever-expanding built environment, while also respecting the rights of future generations to meet their own needs. This is achieved through thoughtful designs that reduce construction waste and employ efficient thermal, electrical, and water systems. Many environmental, economic, and social incentives exist for a project to pursue LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification. Lessened environmental impact through the use of local and recycled materials helps to reduce construction waste, which accounts for nearly 60% of all waste in landfills. Thermally efficient building envelopes and HVAC systems, alternative and user-controlled lighting methods, along with water saving plumbing fixtures can dramatically reduce overall energy costs and add to your organization's bottom line. Our society is faced with challenging environmental issues, and we can all play a part in solving them. The LEED Certification system is one tool we can employ to begin to address these issues. I&S Group offers a full suite of services aimed at planning and designing high-performance and ecologically friendly buildings. I&S employs LEED-Accredited Professionals that have been recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as experts in the field of sustainable design. I&S Group believes that through the successful integration of human needs and interaction with ecological stewardship of the natural environment, we can sustainably meet the needs of current and future generations.
