Mayo Clinic Health System – East Ridge

Mankato, MN

39,687 Square Feet

The renowned Mayo Clinic Health Systems is known for their comprehensive medical research and excellent patient care throughout the Midwest. When the decision was made to open a new location in Mankato, Minnesota, ISG helped create the new 39,687 square-foot building with functionality and comfort as primary values.

Known as Eastridge Clinic, the new location was intended to house the Mayo Health System Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Allergy practices, and the University of Minnesota Family Residency Program. The project required extensive planning for architectural and interior designs, as well as structural engineering. The Clinic was fashioned with state of the art exam rooms, procedure labs, radiology/imaging, and nursing stations. There is also flexible space for physician and other administrative offices.

To foster a warm and inviting environment, special attention was given to crafting a bold entrance and spacious lobby for patients and their families. One of the most striking additions to the new medical facility is the curved exterior canopy at the main entrance. Resting on four pillars, its sleek silver material matches the attached building and compliments the surrounding brick. The canopy is large enough to accommodate vehicle drop-off and pick-up, and will remain a stand-out feature after future clinic expansions are completed. This curved design is repeated in the reception area and welcomes entering patients with a warm finish. The implementation of glass walls in the one and one-half story lobby allows natural light to flood in from the floor and ceiling and opens up to a large community meeting room.

Efficient and thorough construction plans resulted in the project finishing under its estimated cost. Upon completion, Eastridge Clinic was selected for Minnesota Physician Magazine’s 2005 Health Care Architecture and Design Honor Roll. It was featured in their June issue with other exceptionally modeled facilities built across the State. Through considerate planning and bold designs, ISG helped produce a welcoming location that reflects the prestige and care that is associated with the Mayo Clinic Health Systems.
